Hi sunshine,
From the school corridors to university lecture halls, we've been programmed and conditioned to work tirelessly, stay sharp, and forever strive to be at the top of our game. But let's get real for a moment; Does life truly unfold that way? Can we maintain our peak performance without taking a breather or a getaway?
I've been mulling this over lately. For the longest time, burning the midnight oil has been synonymous with working diligently. We've placed the 'hustle' mentality on a pedestal. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all about hustling, but not at the cost of our mental well-being.
Taking breaks carries with it a burden of guilt. From the schoolyard to the workplace and beyond, society nudges us to keep advancing. Rarely does anyone inquire, how are you holding up? Or how are you feeling today?
Contrary to our common way of thinking, taking a break isn't a waste of time; it's granting your brain the chance to detach and examine things from multiple angles. This can be crucial in identifying issues which often go unnoticed.
Yet, I get it, taking a timeout isn't always easy, especially if you've been living life in the fast lane. So, what's an alternative strategy?
Start cherishing your weekends
While we've adapted to working from home or virtually anywhere, this habit brings work into our personal space, and before we know it, our weekends are no longer ours. So make a conscious effort to keep work-related tasks at a distance during your weekends.
Don't be afraid to say 'No.' Declining last-minute work requests can be challenging, but if working late has become the norm, it's high time to find a tactful way to decline and tackle those assignments during regular business hours.
And if working from home is the stumbling block, grab your calendar and earmark one day a week as a self-care day. No errands, no work-related tasks, just quality time to unwind and chill, genuinely rest and rejuvenate.
Scheduling and honouring regular breaks come with a bunch of benefits, like enhanced creativity, heightened focus and productivity, renewed perspectives, and a healthier version of yourself. So, don't hesitate, go ahead and plan that vacation you've always longed for. And if escaping from home isn't in the cards, no problem—plan a breather instead. You can:
Meditate
Curl up with a book and a cuppa
Go on a nature hike
Watch the beauty of a sunrise or sunset
Go for a walk, bike ride, or drive
In summary, take a deep breath, unwind, and remember that breaks should occur well before you're on the brink of burnout. Waiting until you're running on empty to pause, is like refuelling your car when the engine has already gone to a halt. Grab the lesson and put it into practice today.
So, now how do You reenergize your mind and body? I would love to hear your insights in comments!
Until next week. Stay grateful and curious.
Much loves,
Kim

I read the Holy Bible and stay with my cats. Then I do outdoor work. I find it very important to eat well too. This means oatmeal with bio-grrown olive oil, honey, crops from my garden for instance green beans sliced, garlic, chili and green herbs.
Oh, that doesn´t go with oatmeal! I hear some exclaim.
THEY ARE WRONG.
God Bless.
While on a "break" in N. Calif. with his wife, Phil Godlewski made a Rumble video on Sept. 19th in which he displayed the documents which assert that the Nat. Debt of the U.S. has been paid. The whole process started back in Nov. of 2016....Big World Changes coming!!
