I want to share something with you that we've been doing for the past 23 years.
And it has spread too many places around the world.
Hi dear friend,
I want to share something with you that we've been doing at our dinner table for the past 23 years. When our twin boys were six years old and we had moved from Sweden to Mallorca, Spain, they wished for Gameboys for Christmas. Gameboys were the latest handheld games on the market, and many kids at their school had them. However, we were struggling financially due to Spain's switch from pesetas to euros, and I didn't want my boys to take things for granted.
So, I came up with a cunning plan. First, I took them both shopping for food. We filled the car up and drove to one of the spots in Palma de Mallorca where the homeless lived, and gave them the food. I wanted my boys to see first-hand that not everyone lived in a warm, comfortable home with access to basic necessities. These people lived in sheds with very little to survive on. Although it was a bit raw for one of my boys, as he worried for these people during storms and rainy days, it stuck with them both.
After that, we started saying three things we were grateful for during every dinner. It was tough for them to start with, but they soon caught up, and it became easy to find things to be grateful for. And important to stars with I am grateful for… Whatever you put after I am, is very powerful.
Now, 23 years later, everyone who has had dinner in our home knows that we do this, and it has spread too many places around the world. Our kids are now adults, but we still do it when we have dinner together.
My siblings and their families do it, our friends do it with their kids and friends. It's such an easy thing to do, yet we often forget to be grateful in our day-to-day lives. For me, it's the biggest pick-me-up tool, along with music. I start thinking about things I'm grateful for, and before I know it, my world is suddenly amazing.
It takes some practice to make it part of your daily routine, but it's definitely worth it. As someone once said, "When you are grateful, fear disappears, and abundance appears." That's exactly how I feel."
Staying in the attitude of gratitude is fun, uplifting and essential for me in life.
Stay curious and well until next week,
Kim

This is a great way to emphasize family and include the larger human family. Bravo for starting it and for keeping it up.
Hi Kim, gratitude, forgiveness and compassion are aspects of the universal love that courses through our veins. Acknowledgement and the daily use of those aspects strengthens our universal connection and calms the hamster wheel, ego mind. Keep spreading the word. For health go to: essentialoiltherapy.org
