Du skal have en hjertelig hilsen på din rejse. I now switch to English. I'm Danish and have travelled for the greatest part of my life, i. e more than 20 yrs like yourself and your family. I too lived in Spain, around Barcelona, Sabadell, and as I had a Catalan boyfriend who owned a car, which we used to call "El Cojonudo" by the way, I got to see most of Catalunya. Molt be, molt, molt be. I used to work as a teacher and from Spain I went much further alone. I travelled to south east Asia and lived in both Malaysia, Cambodia - my heart breaks when thinking back on her tragic, unnecessary fate - Vietnam, Thailand and my beloved India. I LOVE travelling, and my best poems are from my years of travelling. I have a substack too but at the moment I somehow don't really seem to have neither the inspiration nor the energy anymore. I miss it awfully, though. I experienced the only physical attack in the street I was ever subjected to in Phnom Penh, and experienced homelessness there. I am still in awe I survived it. Thank God. I have been Christian in my heart ever since. I love Jesus. He wrapped His hand around my heart PHYSICALLY when I needed it most. Amen. Be careful in the streets, Kim. Find real friends abroad and, man, how I wish you all the very, very best. Ps: if ever you go to Cambodia there is a long poem of mine on the wall in some place I'll point out to you with my spiritual hand of writing but only if you go there. My poems are sacred "objects" to me, and belong in the places they first manifested. Here is one I wrote in India, Kodikanal in around 2016 as far as I recall, hope you like or resonate with it:
Unsettled
How could you not be unsettled in life?/ How can you say you are settled?/ Is life not a process in your worldview/ something sacred no one possesses?/
To settle down is to draw a line/ between what is public and mine/ to live a life of value and scope/ is to walk the entire line/
Nothing belongs to you or to me/ for tomorrow we might be gone/ so forget about the desire to own/ and join in with the living song
By the way, they say THE FLOWER OF POETRY IS BLUE. How 'bout sending me a photo of a truly beautiful one from your new place? Kindly send it directly to my substack, perhaps that could kindle my poetic flame once again. Love, Alma Ravn.
This feedback is in the spirit sharing and learning. I might be a rare soul, but, the only 'con' in life is not following your heart's desires. The most expensive action in life is no action. Please don't throw out terms like expensive which means nothing in comparison to achieving pure joy at any cost. We are all capable of achieving anything when we 'Know ' , not believe, that it is already ours for the taking. When I decided to move from LA, Calif. to Bracciano, Italy, I did little research, stayed off negative expat websites, used all my credit cards and called the shipper. There was never a drop of fear, after all, we own the Earth.
